Project Overview

Marunthu.com was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2008 as a comprehensive Tamil-language health and wellness portal. Built on a dynamic PHP/MySQL platform, the website served as an online knowledge centre providing articles, traditional remedies, Ayurvedic information, health education, beauty advice, nutrition guides, pregnancy resources, and community discussions.

The portal combined educational content with an interactive community, allowing visitors to explore hundreds of health-related articles while encouraging healthcare professionals and contributors to submit their own content.

Design & Structure

The website was designed as a large-scale content portal capable of organising thousands of articles while allowing visitors to quickly find information.

The homepage used a structured three-column layout, making it easy to display multiple types of content simultaneously. The centre section highlighted featured health articles, videos, and editor's picks, while the left navigation organised diseases and treatment categories. The right column displayed the latest articles, advertisements, newsletters, and community information.

A colourful design using green, blue, orange, and white reflected themes of health, wellness, and nature. Large promotional banners, category panels, and featured content blocks ensured visitors could immediately access popular sections of the website.

The portal also integrated multimedia content, downloadable documents, product information, and community features into a single user-friendly interface.

Marunthu.com was designed to be more than a health website—it was built as a complete online health information portal for the Tamil-speaking community.
