Beaufort Yacht Charters Website
Project Overview
Beaufort Yacht Charters was designed and developed in 2005 by Isura Wickramarachchi in collaboration with Webb & Flow (USA) as the official website for a full-service yacht charter and marina business located in Beaufort, North Carolina.
Developed as a static HTML website, the project was created to promote yacht charter services, new and used boat sales, marina facilities, dockage, and customer services while providing visitors with an attractive introduction to the waterfront lifestyle offered by the company.
Rather than functioning as a simple business brochure, the website was designed to create a premium marine experience, combining elegant design with easy access to information for both recreational boat owners and prospective yacht buyers.
Design & Structure
The website features a clean, contemporary marine-inspired interface that reflects the elegance and freedom associated with boating. Unlike many marina websites of the mid-2000s that relied on basic navigation and large blocks of text, this project introduced a refined layout with strong visual balance and modern graphical styling.
A panoramic marina photograph stretches across the top of the homepage, immediately immersing visitors in the waterfront environment. The navigation is integrated into a series of custom-designed tabbed buttons, giving the interface a polished and organized appearance while making navigation intuitive.
The homepage is arranged in a three-column layout, allowing important information to be presented without clutter. The left column displays company information and contact details, the centre introduces the business and its services, while the right column is dedicated to company news and announcements. This structure enables visitors to quickly locate the information most relevant to them.
The overall design makes effective use of blue, white, silver, and golden-yellow accents, creating a colour scheme that reflects the sea, sky, sunshine, and luxury boating lifestyle.

Significance
The Beaufort Yacht Charters project demonstrates how a marine business could establish a strong digital identity through clean design, elegant branding, and intuitive information architecture. Instead of relying on generic corporate templates, the website combined panoramic marina imagery, custom navigation, and a balanced layout to create a professional online presence that reflected the quality of the company's services.
The project reflects Isura Wickramarachchi's philosophy of designing unique, handcrafted websites tailored to each client's business and industry. Through its refined marine-inspired design, modern navigation system, and carefully structured content, the website successfully communicated the premium boating lifestyle while providing visitors with an enjoyable browsing experience. More than two decades later, it remains an excellent example of early hospitality and marine industry web design, demonstrating how thoughtful interface design and strong branding could create a memorable and effective online presence.
