Designed in 2004, this website was created to showcase the wildlife photography of renowned Sri Lankan wildlife photographer Vajira Wijegunawardane. The website featured a collection of his stunning photographs captured across Sri Lanka’s wilderness, with a special focus on the majestic Sri Lankan elephant.

The site presented his work from his celebrated photographic journey and promoted his coffee table book “Sri Lankan Elephant – A Celebration of Majesty”, which documented the beauty, behaviour, and conservation challenges of the Sri Lankan elephant (Elephas maximus maximus). Through carefully arranged photo galleries and informative content, the website provided visitors with an immersive experience into Sri Lanka’s natural heritage and wildlife.

At a time when Flash-based multimedia websites and image galleries were popular, the website was designed to highlight high-quality wildlife images and bring the photographer’s vision to an international audience. It served as a digital portfolio celebrating Sri Lanka’s unique biodiversity and the importance of wildlife conservation.
