Project Overview

The official website for the 32nd Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC 2010) was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2010 as a comprehensive PHP/MySQL conference management website for one of the largest international dental congresses in the Asia-Pacific region.

Hosted in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 12–15 May 2010, the website served as the primary online information and communication platform for delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and visitors from around the world. The congress was organised under the auspices of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation (APDF) together with the Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA).

The website was designed to provide comprehensive event information while supporting registrations, scientific programmes, trade exhibitions, accommodation, tourism, sponsorship opportunities, and downloadable conference resources through a central online platform.

Design & Structure

The website featured a professional medical conference design using blue, white, green, and gold, incorporating imagery of Colombo and Sri Lanka to promote both the congress and the host country.

As the official website for one of the Asia-Pacific region's most prestigious dental congresses, the platform served as the primary digital gateway for delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and organisers from around the world. It showcased Isura Wickramarachchi's capabilities in planning the system architecture, user interface design, database structure, and overall web application development required for an enterprise-level international event.

The backend application development was undertaken by Yasitha Dinushi Munasinghe, who implemented several mission-critical modules, including:

Delegate ID card generation and printing system.
Certificate generation and printing system.
Automated email notification system.

Administrative management modules for the organising committee.

These advanced backend systems enabled organisers to efficiently manage thousands of delegates and streamline many of the congress's operational processes, making the website not only an information portal but also a comprehensive event management solution. The successful collaboration combined Isura Wickramarachchi's expertise in system design, interface development, and project leadership with Yasitha Dinushi Munasinghe's specialised backend engineering to deliver a robust web application for a major international conference.
