Mahawansa Pradeepikawa – Digital Companion to Sri Lankan History

Version 2.8.9Flutter / Firebase / Php API

The Mahawansa Pradeepikawa App was developed by Isura Wickramarachchi as the digital companion to the Mahawansa Pradeepikawa historical publication, connecting a traditional printed reference work with a modern mobile learning experience.

Rather than reproducing the book on a screen, the application extends its usefulness. Users can explore information relating to Sri Lankan kings and kingdoms, locate relevant page references within the printed book, and use QR-based access to move between printed and digital historical resources. Dedicated services for registered book owners are also incorporated into the platform.

This creates an important relationship between physical and digital research: a reader studying a historical figure or dynasty in the book can use the application as a faster navigation and supplementary information tool. The printed publication therefore remains the principal reference work, while the mobile application provides an additional interactive layer around it.

The project represents the continuing evolution of the wider Mahawansaya digital heritage initiative—bringing together historical research, visual documentation, genealogy, printed publishing and mobile technology to make Sri Lanka's royal history more accessible to students, teachers, researchers and future generations.

The first official Android release is now published on Google Play under Books & Reference. Google Play lists features including royal-history information, kings and kingdoms, book-page searching, QR access and services for book owners.
