Facebook Leadership Workshop – Ratnapura District (3rd District Workshop)

The Hadawathe Janadhipathi Mahinda (HJM) Team successfully conducted its 3rd District Facebook Leadership Workshop on 14 November 2016 at the Nilani Hotel in Ratnapura as part of its nationwide programme to develop second-line social media leaders.

This full-day training programme focused on the effective use of Facebook and other digital platforms, social media page management, content creation, campaign planning, audience engagement, digital communication strategies, and practical techniques for coordinating online volunteer activities.

The workshop brought together a large number of young volunteers, social media activists, and community organisers from across the Ratnapura District. Through presentations, interactive discussions, and practical training sessions, participants strengthened their knowledge and developed valuable digital communication and leadership skills.

The programme was supported by Hon. Kanchana Jayaratne, then Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, and Hon. Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi, then Member of Parliament, who provided accommodation and hospitality for the participants. The workshop also featured valuable presentations by Senior Lecturer Mahinda Pathirana of Sabaragamuwa University, together with Hon. Ranjith de Zoysa and several other invited representatives.

As the third event in HJM's nationwide Facebook leadership initiative, the Ratnapura workshop played an important role in strengthening regional digital leadership, empowering volunteers with practical social media skills, and expanding a responsible network of community-focused digital communicators across Sri Lanka.
