Family Trip to Matale – Sera Ella, Pitawala and Riverston

From 12 to 14 November 2018, I travelled through the Matale region with my wife and son on a three-day family trip. Away from our usual routines, it gave the three of us an opportunity to spend time together while enjoying the natural beauty of Sri Lanka’s central highlands.

During the journey, we visited Sera Ella, Pitawala and Riverston, along with the beautiful mountain landscapes of the surrounding area. Time spent beside the waterfall and exploring the cooler, greener landscapes around Pitawala and Riverston became some of the highlights of the trip.

The photographs preserve more than the places we visited. They capture simple family moments—being together beside a waterfall, enjoying the cool mountain surroundings, and standing against the magnificent scenery of the highlands. These are the small moments that made the journey especially memorable.

Looking back years later, what makes this trip special to me is not only the beauty of Matale, but the three days I was able to spend freely with my wife and son, travelling and creating memories together.
