Johnian Walk 2018 – Reconnecting with School Memories

Date: 9 June 2018
School: St. John’s College, Nugegoda
Event: Johnian Walk 2018

Participating in Johnian Walk 2018 on 9 June 2018 was a memorable occasion connected with my school life at St. John’s College, Nugegoda. The event brought together members of the wider Johnian community and created an opportunity to reconnect with the school and with people linked through our shared school years.

Dressed in the familiar green, black and white colours of St. John’s College, participants joined the walk through Nugegoda. Different groups and sporting sections of the school were represented during the procession, including the St. John’s College Boxing group visible in the photographs.

For me, however, the day was about more than simply taking part in a walk. Meeting familiar faces, spending time together, sharing laughter and remembering our school days made the occasion particularly enjoyable. The gathering surrounding the event added to the sense of friendship and connection among the Johnian community.

These photographs, carrying the St. John’s College crest and its motto “Nil Desperandum,” preserve a personal memory of a day when old school connections, friendship and the shared identity of being a Johnian came together once again.
