A Visit to a Traditional Fish-Drying Site in Dickwella

Date: 17 October 2020 Location: Dickwella, Matara District, Sri Lanka
On 17 October 2020, during a visit to Dickwella with my wife, Dinushi, we had the opportunity to observe a traditional fish-drying site.
Large quantities of fish were neatly arranged on wooden racks and left to dry under the sun. The scene offered a glimpse into dried-fish production, a traditional method of preserving fish that remains closely associated with Sri Lanka's coastal communities.
We captured a few photographs together during the visit, preserving a simple but memorable moment from our time in Dickwella.
Experiences like these remind me that meaningful travel memories are not always connected to famous destinations. Sometimes, observing everyday life, local industries and traditional practices can be equally memorable. This visit remains a pleasant personal memory of a day spent together.
