Diamonds Mens Wear
Project Overview
The Diamond Men's Wear website was designed and developed in 2005 by Isura Wickramarachchi in collaboration with Webb & Flow (USA) as the official online presence for a premium men's fashion retailer specializing in custom suits, sport coats, slacks, and professional menswear.
Developed as a static HTML website, the project was created to promote the company's apparel collections, travelling sales schedule, merchandise catalogue, and customer ordering information. The website provided customers with an elegant introduction to the brand while supporting its travelling retail and personal fitting services.
Rather than functioning as a conventional online clothing catalogue, the website was designed to communicate style, sophistication, and luxury, reflecting the premium quality of the brand's products.
Design & Structure
The website features a highly distinctive fashion-inspired interface that blends elegance with modern graphical design. Unlike many apparel websites of the mid-2000s that relied on simple catalogue layouts, this project introduced a symmetrical composition centred around the company's diamond-shaped logo, making the brand identity the visual focal point of the homepage.
One of the most innovative design concepts is the use of large glossy navigation panels arranged around the central logo. These oversized buttons serve not only as navigation elements but also as major graphical components of the overall design. This approach transformed the homepage into an interactive promotional display rather than a traditional webpage.
The homepage is framed by large monochrome portraits of professionally dressed male models on both sides. These images reinforce the company's focus on premium menswear while creating a balanced and sophisticated visual composition.
The colour palette combines soft gold, cream, blue, and silver, creating an elegant atmosphere associated with luxury fashion. Subtle gradients, polished interface elements, and carefully aligned typography give the website a refined appearance that was well ahead of many fashion websites developed during the same period.

Significance
The Diamond Men's Wear project demonstrates how a fashion retailer could establish a distinctive online identity through creative interface design and strong visual branding. Instead of presenting products in a conventional catalogue format, the website used symmetry, oversized graphical navigation, premium photography, and elegant colour combinations to communicate the sophistication of the brand.
The project reflects Isura Wickramarachchi's philosophy of creating unique, handcrafted websites tailored to each client's industry and identity. Its innovative homepage composition, bold use of branded navigation, and fashion-inspired visual storytelling made it stand out among apparel websites of the mid-2000s. More than two decades later, the archived website remains an excellent example of early fashion web design, demonstrating how originality, branding, and user experience could be combined to create a memorable digital presence.
