Leeds International School Website
Project Overview
Leeds International School was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2008 as the official website for one of Sri Lanka's rapidly expanding international school networks. Founded in 1999, the school had already established multiple branches across the country and required a dynamic web platform to manage school information, news, activities, galleries, and branch-specific content while providing an informative portal for parents and prospective students.
Built using PHP/MySQL, the website enabled administrators to keep school information up to date through an easy-to-manage administration panel while presenting a professional online presence for the growing institution.
Design & Structure
The website was designed using a clean blue, white, and purple colour scheme to reflect professionalism, education, and trust. The homepage adopted a structured three-column layout, allowing important information to remain visible without overwhelming visitors.
The central content area introduced the school with its history, educational philosophy, and academic achievements. The left panel highlighted the Principal's Message, while the right sidebar displayed branch locations, photo galleries, latest news updates, and a secure user login section. This organised structure enabled parents and students to quickly access the information most relevant to them.
The design focused on readability and usability, ensuring that visitors could easily navigate between academic information, facilities, extracurricular activities, and branch details.
Unique Design Concept
The website was designed to function as a central communication platform for the entire Leeds International School network rather than simply a corporate brochure.
The system supported multiple school branches while providing regularly updated news, event galleries, academic information, and school announcements. A secure user login area and forum section introduced interactive features that encouraged communication between the school community and parents.
Special attention was given to showcasing the school's expanding branch network, academic excellence, and student activities, helping parents gain a comprehensive understanding of the institution through a single website.
