Mobile Phone Donation to Support a Child's Education During COVID-19

Date: 4 July 2021
Project: Mobile Phone Donation - Online Education Support
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools could not operate normally and travel restrictions were in place, mobile phones became essential learning tools for many children. A significant part of their education had to continue remotely.
During this period, I learned that a child living in our area did not have access to a suitable mobile phone for educational purposes. I therefore decided to donate one of my own used phones, which was still in good working condition, so that the child could use it for learning.
This donation had a special personal meaning because it was made on 4 July 2021, my birthday. Rather than receiving something for myself on that day, I felt fortunate to be able to give something that could help a child continue their education during such a difficult period.
The initiative did not end with that first phone. After learning about it, several of my friends also gave me their used but still functional mobile phones. I was then able to pass those devices on to other children who needed phones for their education.
What began as a simple birthday donation to support one child gradually became an opportunity to help several children with the support of my friends. For that reason, my birthday in 2021 remains a particularly meaningful memory in my social-service journey.
