Lecture on “The Future Impact of Technology” – Sumithrayo, Panadura

Date: 6 May 2018
Location: Panadura, Sri Lanka
Organised by: Sri Lanka Sumithrayo – Panadura

On 6 May 2018, I was invited to deliver a lecture on “The Future Impact of Technology” at a programme organised by Sri Lanka Sumithrayo in Panadura.

The session provided an opportunity to share my thoughts and experience on the rapid development of technology and how these changes could increasingly influence everyday life. The discussion covered areas such as computers, the Internet, mobile technology and social media, together with the growing importance of digital communication and access to information.

I also discussed the importance of using technology responsibly, considering not only the opportunities created by technological progress but also its wider influence on individuals and society.

Having worked with web and digital technologies since the late 1990s, this programme gave me an opportunity to share some of that experience with a wider community. It remains a meaningful memory of being able to move beyond developing and using technology and engage in a broader conversation about how technological change could shape the future of society.
