Supporting Nalaka Kottegoda's Election Campaign in Galewela

ate: 25 July 2020
Location: Galewela Town, Matale District
Occasion: 2020 Parliamentary Election Campaign

A visit to Galewela Town to support the election campaign of Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda ahead of the 2020 Parliamentary Election.

I joined the campaign activities taking place in Galewela that day and spent time among local residents and others involved in the campaign. The photographs also capture an unmistakable feature of that period, with many participants wearing face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This remains part of my personal record of political participation during the campaign period leading up to the Parliamentary Election held on 5 August 2020. According to the official Election Commission results, Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda contested in the Matale Electoral District representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and received 71,404 preference votes.
