Namo Buddhassa - Donation of Counting Devices - Phase 2
THE STORY

Date: 11 October 2023
Project: Namo Buddhassa
Phase: Phase 2 - First Batch

Following the strong response to the first phase of the Namo Buddhassa initiative launched in September 2023, I continued the donation of handheld counting devices for members of the Buddhist monastic community through a second phase.

These small counters can be used to record repetitions while contemplating the qualities of the Buddha, chanting verses, or carrying out other religious practices a predetermined number of times. Following the first phase, a large number of additional requests were received from Buddhist monks and nuns, and my intention was to provide a device to everyone who had requested one.

As I was living overseas at the time, it was difficult to send a large quantity of devices to Sri Lanka at once. I therefore arranged for them to be sent to the country in smaller batches and then distributed by post to the monks who had requested them.

By 11 October 2023, the first batch of Phase 2 had been prepared and was scheduled to be posted the following day. Another batch of devices was already on its way to Sri Lanka. Although the process had to be completed gradually, my intention was to ensure that every monk who had made a request would eventually receive a device.

The item itself was small, but its value to me came from knowing that it could become a useful part of someone's regular religious practice.

My wish at the time:
May the Buddha Sasana continue to be preserved for five thousand years.
