Beginning the New Year with Smiles for Children

I began the year 2022 by bringing a little happiness to a group of children. Through the "Hadawathinma Daruwanta" initiative, I prepared gifts containing books, pens, pencils, school supplies and sweets for the children.

The items were carefully packed as individual gifts and personally handed to the children. Some children also received school bags. The smiles on their faces as they received their gifts became the most meaningful part of the entire activity.

A new year begins with many hopes and expectations. For me, being able to begin it by contributing, even in a small way, towards a child's education made the occasion particularly meaningful.

A book, pen or pencil may seem like a small gift, but the happiness it brings and the encouragement it can give a child to learn can be far more valuable. The smiles I witnessed on the first day of 2022 made this a memorable beginning to my own new year as well.
