“Hadawathe Sihinaya” – The First Computer for Kallanchiya Primary School

Under the “Hadawathe Sihinaya” Computer Project, a complete desktop computer system was donated to Kallanchiya Primary School in Galgamuwa, Kurunegala District, on 17 September 2020.

One of the first things that impressed me when visiting the school was its cleanliness and orderly environment. Despite having limited resources, the school was being maintained with great care, something I felt deserved genuine appreciation.

At the time, however, the school did not have a single computer available for its students. This made the computer we provided particularly meaningful. Once it was installed and made ready for use, the children could begin using it from the following day and gain practical exposure to computer technology within their own school.

Providing one computer may appear to be a small contribution in numerical terms. But for a child who has never had the opportunity to use a computer, it can become a doorway to an entirely new world of knowledge. That was one of the central hopes behind the “Hadawathe Sihinaya” project—not merely to donate equipment, but to give children an opportunity to take another step towards the future.

What we gave that day was a computer. But if one of these children can someday use the opportunity it created to change their future, that will be the greatest value of this effort.
May these little children see and build their future.
