A Small Technological Step Towards a Brighter Future

On 18 September 2020, another computer from the “Hadawathe Sihinaya” Computer Project was donated to the children of Ralapanawa Primary School in Nochchiyagama, Anuradhapura District.

One of the most memorable parts of this visit was the warm welcome given by the children. Young students greeted us with flowers, while many others stood in lines along the school grounds to welcome our arrival. Their excitement and smiles once again reminded me of the real purpose behind this project.

After the computer was handed over, it was set up for use at the school. The intention behind Hadawathe Sihinaya was not simply to donate equipment, but to help create opportunities for children to experience technology and develop computer knowledge as part of their education, including those studying in schools away from major towns and cities.

This visit reminded me once again that children are the same wherever we travel in Sri Lanka. Their smiles, affection and hopes for the future are equally precious. Seeing their happiness brings a sense of fulfilment that makes every effort behind these journeys worthwhile.

My hope is that this computer will become a useful educational resource and provide these children with another opportunity to discover the wider world through technology.

May these children see and build a brighter future.
