25th Death Anniversary Commemoration of Wijaya Kumaratunga

Attending the 25th Death Anniversary Commemoration of Wijaya Kumaratunga, held on 27 February 2013 at the Bishop's College Auditorium, was a truly memorable occasion in my life. The event was organized by the Wijaya Kumaratunga Foundation, and I had the privilege of attending by invitation.
This occasion held special personal significance because former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, who was also the wife of the late Wijaya Kumaratunga, sent me a formal written request asking whether I could provide photographs of Wijaya Kumaratunga for use during the commemorative event.
Over many years, I had built and preserved a substantial private collection of rare photographs of Wijaya Kumaratunga. I was pleased to contribute a significant number of these photographs for the anniversary programme, where they were used in commemorative displays and related publications celebrating his life and legacy.
Having the opportunity to support such an important national remembrance through my personal archival collection was both an honour and a deeply meaningful experience. It remains one of the most significant moments in my work of preserving Sri Lankan cinema history and cultural heritage.
