Geak Photography Website

Project Overview

The GEAK Photography website was designed and developed by Isura Wickramarachchi in 2011 as a dynamic PHP/MySQL portfolio website for a Melbourne-based professional photography studio. The website was created to showcase the photographer's work across multiple photography genres while providing visitors with an organised online portfolio, service information, pricing, and contact facilities.

The platform served as both a marketing website and an online portfolio, allowing prospective clients to browse photography collections covering weddings, portraits, sports, children's photography, events, and nature photography.

Design & Structure

The website featured a modern minimalist design using black, grey, white, and red, creating an elegant gallery-style presentation that placed maximum emphasis on the photography itself.

The homepage included:

• Professional studio branding.
• Large featured slideshow.
• Photography category navigation.
• Portfolio previews.
• Category-based galleries.
• Studio introduction.
• Latest news section.
• Featured image gallery.
• Footer navigation.

The layout was carefully designed to keep the visitor's attention focused on the photographs while providing easy navigation between different portfolio collections.

Significance

The GEAK Photography project demonstrated Isura Wickramarachchi's expertise in developing dynamic portfolio websites where photography became the primary focus of the user experience. Rather than functioning as a simple image gallery, the website organised hundreds of photographs into clearly defined categories, enabling visitors to explore different photography specialties with ease while maintaining a clean and professional presentation.

The elegant dark-themed interface enhanced the visual impact of each photograph and reflected the premium nature of the studio's services. By combining dynamic portfolio management, category-based navigation, news publishing, and an intuitive browsing experience, the project showcased Isura Wickramarachchi's ability to develop sophisticated portfolio websites for creative professionals, providing an effective platform for promoting photography services and attracting new clients in the Australian market.
